His Karma (Rajya)10th house (Aries) has 5 planets (in Sri Narayana sthanam). Mars is in his own house, bestowing Ruchaka yoga. Full moon aspects all 5 planets is very beneficial. Ifs Parivraja (Sanyasa; ascetic Yoga) is also present in addition to Parijatha, the person becomes a religious head. The parivrajaka yogas are determined by the most powerful planets. When these planets have suffered a defeat, the person will renounce the Parivraja (ascetic life) afterwards.
Bhagavan Buddha also has strong Parivraja (Ascetic yoga). Karma-sthanethu,chathvaro graha sthishtanthi che thathaa Parvrajaka yoga praapthi; ithi nischayaah (Jataka Marthandam) = If 4 or more planets occupy the 10th house (Karma sthana; profession) the person becomes an Ascetic.
Gautama Buddha had five planets in Karma-sthana (10th house; Rajya-sthana). Saturn was debilitated and stayed in 10th house; also Sani, the lord of 7th house for familiy life (Makara) was aspecting Moon. So he renounced his family life and took Sanyasa-deeksha (oath of asceticism). The powerful Kuja (Mars) in his own house (Mesha) with Saturn in 10th house caused Buddha to become a Sakya sanyasi, who wore saffron (red hue) coloured robes. Many rulers and millions of people adored him as Supreme God and accepted his preachings and became his disciples.

ท่านอาจารย์ ดร.ประเสริฐ  ณ  นคร  ราชบัณฑิตสำนักประวัติศาสตร์  ท่านเล่าว่า  อินเดียไม่ได้ใช้ พศ.ติดต่อกันมาแต่ครั้งพุทธกาลคือหลังปรินิพพาน  แต่นับเป็นรอบๆละ 60 ปี แนวพฤหัสจักร ( เช่นเดียวกับหลักลักจั๊บกะจื้อของจีน ) แบบว่า ปรินิพพานมากี่รอบเศษอีกกี่ปี  ซึ่งมีวิธีนับต่างกันอยู่ 2 พวก  ๆหนึ่ง นับถอยหลัง  เช่น พศ.80  ก็ว่า พระพุทธเจ้าปรินิพพานไปแล้ว 1 รอบกับ 20 ปี   ส่วนอีกพวกหนึ่งนับรอบย่างเข้า เช่น พศ.80 กลับเรียกว่า  เป็นปีที่ 20  ในรอบที่ 2

ดังนั้นพวกที่ 1 เมื่อมาอ่านงานของพวกที่ 2 กล่าว  กลับเข้าใจเป็นว่า  พศ. 80 ของพวกที่2 ว่านั้น เป็นรอบที่ 2 กับอีก 20 ปี เลยกลายเป็น 60+60+20 = 140 ปี  เลยต่างกัน 60 ปีหรือ 1 รอบ

เรียกว่า นับกันผิดมาตั้งแต่ สมัยพระเจ้าอโศกมหาราชแล้ว

ตามจารึกพระเจ้าอโศกนั้น  มีหลักฐานเป็นเสาอโศกแน่นอน  พระองค์ท่านเสวยราชย์ พศ. 214-255  ตามหลักฐานของ คัมภีร์ชินกาลมาลีปกรณ์  ที่ทราบว่าผิดเพราะมีหลักฐานการส่งสมณฑูตไปเผยแผ่  มีศักราชจดไว้แน่นอนและเชื่อถือได้ตามประวัติศาสตร์  ซึ่งปัจจุบันนักวิชาการเมือ่เทียบดูแล้ว  ผิดเกินไป 60 ปี  หรือ 1 รอบ 

แต่เปลี่ยนแก้ไม่ได้แล้วเพราะ ใช้กันมาจนชินไปแก้ของเก่า ลบ ไม่ได้เพราะหลักฐานลงเอาไว่หมดแล้วเป็นเช่นนั้นต้องเข้าใจเอาเอง

ประเทศไทยใช้ 543 +คศ. ให้เป็น พศ.

แต่พม่า  ลังกา  ใช้ 544 + คศ.  จึงเร็วกว่า พี่ไทยเรา  1  ปี

ก็ในเมื่อ สมัยพระเจ้าอโศก ซึ่งหลังพุทธปรินิพพาน 214 - 255  ปี
พระไตรปิฏกยังไม่สังคายนาสังคีติ เป็นตัวหนังสือ ยังเป็นมุขปาฐะท่องจำกันอยู่
เพิ่งมามีใน 500 ปีหลังพุทธกาล 

ในเมื่อพระไตรปิฏกยังไม่ลงระบบในยุคนั้นซึ่งเป็นหลักฐานชั้นต้น

นับประสาอะไรกับรายละเอียดทางอรรถกถา ซึ่งมีมาในชั้นหลังแต่ไหนๆ

ทางแก้ว่าเป็นอย่างไรนั้น

ท่านอาจารย์โหรมานิตย์  ธีรเวชชโรกุล แห่งสำนักบ้วนแซ  ท่านได้ทำโปรแกรมปฏิทินย้อนหลังไป 3000 ปี

โดยทำแบบจันทรคติควบระบบเกรเกอเลี่ยน  วันต่อวัน  นับตามลักษณะพระจันทร์ขั้นแรมมีรูปลักษณะพระจันทร์เว้าแหว่งเต็มตามวันเวลาย้อนหลังเดินหน้าได้ด้วย

เพื่อใช้ภาพเชิงประจักษ์ว่าเพ็ญจริงเมื่อไหร่ 

เหตุผลเพื่อแก้ปัญหาโต้เถียงเรื่อง การปรับ อทิกวาร และอทิกมาส

และตัดปัญหาการแก้ไขปฏิทิน เรื่องวันขึ้นปีใหม่ ว่าเริ่มนับเมื่อไหร่จากระบบราชการ ไทย
ซึ่งมีมาตั้งแต่

ขึ้น 1 ค่ำเดือนอ้าย  หรือ ขั้น 1ค่ำเดือน 5 หรือ 1 เมษายน  หรือ 1 มกราคม

ปัจจุบันถ้าลองนับตามดู  ก็น่าจะรู้ว่าตรงกับวันที่เท่าไหร่ แบบไทยและแบบพม่าลังกา

ซึ่งต่างกันอยู่ 1 ปี แม้จะเป็นเถรวาทหินยานทั้งคู่ 

แต่ปัญหาเรื่องตำแหน่งดวงดาวก็ไม่ลงตัว

เพราะการคำนวณตำแหน่งย้อนหลัง ในทางปฏิบัติจริง คลาดเคลื่อน

แม้จะใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ทำได้ แต่ก็ยังไม่มีใครทำ

เหตุที่คลาดเคลื่อนเพราะ ต้องนับค่า อายนางศะ ( Precission )ลงไปด้วย

โปรแกรมปัจจุบันในการคำนวณตำแหน่งเช่น  Swiss Ephimeris ไม่ได้เผื่อไว้หลายๆร้อยปี

ยิ่งดาวทิพย์ยิ่งไม่ได้เลย เพราะ ค่าที่คำนวณปัจจุบันเป็น วงกลม  ไม่ใช่วงรี ตามดาวโคจรจริง

คือระยะ ตำแหน่ง 2500 ปีนั้น เมื่อดาวฤกษ์ ยังเคลื่อน นับประสาอะไรกับหมู่ดาวราศีจะไม่เคลื่อน  เพราะดวงอาทิตย์ก็โคจรไปในกาแล๊กซี่ทางช้างเผือก  เช่นกัน

ดังนั้น  ตำแหน่งราศี ก็เคลื่อนแล้ว จันทร์เสวยฤกษ์นักษัตร  ที่ใช้อ้างอิง  ก็ต้องผิดเพี้ยนไป

ภาพจันทร์เสวยฤกษ์ ในการอ้างอิงสมัยโน้นตามคัมภีร์  กับท้องฟ้าพิกัดที่คำนวณได้ของวิทยาการปัจจุบัน ก็เพี๊ยนไป
แล้วจะเชื่ออะไรกับตำแหน่งดาวเคราะห์ดวงอื่นๆ โดยเฉพาะ ค่าอุจนี ( Apogee )

ในโหราศาสตร์แนวตะวันออก  ซึ่งไทยและอินเดีย ใช้ระบบนี้  ก็อ้างได้ ตามข้อมูลในสมัยนั้นๆท่านใช้
ท่านเป็นปราชญ์  กับฐานข้อมูลในสมัยนั้น ก็ต้องว่าอย่างนั้นซึ่งก็ถือว่า เป็นหลักวิชาการที่ล้ำยุคแล้วในสมัยนั้นซึ่งก็ไม่ผิด

แต่ปัจจุบันวิทยาการมันพัฒนาไปมากแล้ว

วิทยาศาสตร์มันฟ้องว่า  ไม่น่าจะใช่

มันเป็นแค่ถูกวิธีคิด แต่ผิดวิธีทำ

เมื่อที่มาและขึ้นต้นมันผิด  ต่อให้ทำวิจิตรพิศดารได้ขนาดไหน 

มันก็ไม่ใช่อยู่ดี  อ่ะคับ

แต่อย่างไรก็ต้องขอขอบคุณท่าน วิสาขบูชา มา ณ ที่นี้ที่อุตส่าห์ค้นคว้าเป็นวิทยาทานแนวพุทธบูชา  นำมาเผยแพร่ในเว็บเราคับ

คือผมเถียงเพื่อก่อน่ะคับ  ผมเองก็อยากจะรู้เหมือนกัน โดยเฉพาะพุทธประวัติขององค์พระศาสดา แนวพุทธานุสติ

พูดมาถึงเรื่องศักราชแล้วชักติดพัน  ขอพล่ามต่อคับ

ศักราชที่ใช้ในเมืองไทย  มีอยู่ด้วยกัน 8 อย่าง  ได้แก่

1.อัญชนะศักราช  ซึ่งพระเจ้าอัญชนะ ซึ่งเป็นทั้งตาและน้องปู่ของพระพุทธเจ้า เป็นผู้ก่อตั้งขึ้นก่อนพุทธศักราช 147 ปี  ดังนั้นจึงเอา พ.ศ.ตั้ง บวก 147 ปีจึงเป็นอัญชนะศักราช

2. พุทธศักราช  เมื่อพระพุทธเจ้าปรินิพพานแล้ว ก็เริ่ม พศ.0 ในวันแรม 1 ค่ำเดือน 6 ปีมะเมีย

3. มหาศักราช ตั้งขึ้นโดยพระเจ้ากณิษกะแห่งอินเดีย  ดังนั้นต้องเอา มหาศักราช บวกด้วย 621 ปี ก็จะเป็น พุทธศักราช  ดังนั้น  มศ.1 ก็คือ พศ.622

4. จุลศักราช  เป็นศักราชที่มาจาก พม่า  ต้องเอา 1181 บวกจุลศักราช จึงจะเป็นพุทธศักราช  ตั้งแต่ครั้งก่อนมีอาณาจักรพุกาม โดยพระเจ้าสุริยวิกรม กษัตริย์แคว้นพยู  ต่อมาพม่าพระเจ้าอโนรธามังช่อ เข้ามาสถาปนาชนชาติพม่าตั้งแคว้นพุกามในดินแดนนี้ได้เลยรับมาใช้ต่อ

5. คริสศักราช เริ่มนับแต่วันสมภพของพระเยซู  หลังพุทธศักราช 553 ปี ดังนั้น คศ.1 จะเท่ากับ พศ.544

6. รัตนโกสินทร์ศก  เริ่มแต่วันตั้งกรุงเทพ โดยบวก 2324 จึงเป็นพุทธศักราช  ดังนั้น รศ.1 จึงตรงกับ พศ. 2325

7. กลียุคศักราช  เริ่มก่อนพุทธกาล  2558 ปี โน่นเลยคับ  เพราะฉะนั้นจึงคลาดเคลื่อนเรื่องการนับวัน ในการปรับเข้ากับ ปฏิทินเกรกอเลี่ยน ของโลกปัจจุบัน

8. ศักราชอิสลามหรือฮิจเลาะห์ศักราช นับตามจันทรคติ  ซึ่งเทียบกับ พศ. ลำบาก

ในประเทศไทยนั้น  เราใช้มหาศักราชมาแต่สุโขทัยและอยุทธยายุคต้น  ซึ่งสองอาณาจักรนี้คาบเกี่ยวกัน 

มาในสมัย พระเจ้าลิไท เอา จุลศักราชมาใช้  เพราะเอาลัทธิลังกาวงศ์มาจากมอญ

ตามหลักฐานหลวง จึงใช้จุลศักราชติดมาด้วย

แต่ ชาวบ้านใช้ระบบนับรอบ  รอบละ 60 ปี ทั้งแคว้นล้านนา  ยูนนาน ไทยใหญ่ ไทยอาหม  สิบสองปันนา เวียดนาม

โดยเรียกว่า ระบบหนไทย

แต่ของอาณาจักรขอม ก็มีระบบรอบ 60 เหมือนกันแต่เรียกต่างกัน

ซึ่งระบบนี้ไม่ศึกษาลึกพอจะสับสน

วันก็เช่นกัน  นับแบบเดียวกันกับปี  ดังนั้นการอ่านพงศาวดารเหนือต้องเข้าใจระบบนี้ จึงจะรู้เรื่อง

โดยมากเราคุ้นกับ พงศาวดารอยุธยา และรัตนโกสินทร์  ซึ่งเป็นคนละระบบกัน

ผมกำลังเร้นกายอยู่ เรื่องนี้ปลุกให้ลุกมาร่วมแสดงความเห็นซะจนได้

ผมก็ว่าไม่มีข้อสรุปอะไรหรอกครับเรื่องนี้ เรื่องมันนานแล้ว และเป็นเรื่องความเชื่อโดยตรง รวมทั้งความเคารพรักต่อท่านของแต่ละคน

มีข้อคิดเพิ่มเติมสักหน่อยว่า ปฏิทินรอบอายุต่าง ๆ จากพุทธประวัติก็แจ้งเป็นจันทรคติตลอด การนับครบปีอายุคงจะนับตามจันทรคติไปด้วยก็อาจเป็นได้ (ประสูตร ตรัสรู้ ปรินิพพาน วันเดียวกัน คือวันเพ็ญเดือนวิสาขะ)

ผมเองก็คิดค้นกับเขาด้วยในเรื่องนี้ ก็เลยขอนำมาร่วมแสดงลอย ๆ ไว้ อย่าได้เชื่อถือโดยเด็ดขาด เพราะคงจะไม่ตรงกับใครเลย รวมทั้งพุทธประวัติทุกสายตามที่เชื่อถือกัน ทั้งมุขปาฐถหรือเป็นลายลักษณ์แล้ว (ซึ่งก็อาจจะผิดได้ในทุกขั้นตอนด้วย ทั้งท่องต่อกันมาผิด อรรถถาจารย์สอดแทรกตามที่ตนเองเชื่อหรือเห็นด้วยญาณ (ซึ่งก็อาจจะเห็นผิด รวมทั้งเติมแต่งตามจิตนาการและความหลง) ทั้งเข้าใจผิดแล้วจดลง รวมทั้งจดผิด พิมพ์ผิดมาเรื่อยก็ยังได้) ตามบันทึกดังลิงค์นี้

โดยขอปิดท้ายด้วยวันที่ ปรินิพพาน ซึ่งผมเพิ่งจะยกเอาวันที่ซึ่งตนเองหมายไว้นานแล้วขึ้นมาดูเดี๋ยวนี้เอง ได้พบว่า

นี่อาจเป็นเรื่องร่วมเกิดในช่วงจะปรินิพพานครั้งนั้น กล่าวคือคงจะจำกันได้ว่า พระพุทธเจ้าทรงฉันเห็ดพิเศษชนิดหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นของชอบของหมู (สุกรมัททวะ) แล้วเกิดการปวดท้องอย่างแรง ทรงให้นำอาหารที่เหลือไปทิ้งเสีย ไม่ให้ถวายแก่ภิกษุอื่นใด

ตรัสกะนายจุนทกัมมารบุตรว่า  ดูก่อนจุนท
ท่านจงอังคาสเราด้วยสูกรมัททวะที่ท่านตระเตรียมไว้    จงอังคาสภิกษุสงฆ์ด้วย
ของเคี้ยวของฉันอย่างอื่นที่ท่านตระเตรียมไว้.        นายจุนทกัมมารบุตรทูลรับ
พระดำรัสของพระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าแล้ว   จึงอังคาสพระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้า  ด้วยสูกร
มัททวะที่ตนตระเตรียมไว้  อังคาสภิกษุสงฆ์ด้วยของเคี้ยวของฉันอย่างอื่นที่ตน
ตระเตรียมไว้.  ลำดับนั้น  พระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้ารับสั่งกะนายจุนทกัมมารบุตรว่า
จุนท ท่านจงฝังสูกรมัททวะที่เหลือเสียในหลุม เรายังไม่เห็นบุคคลในโลกพร้อม
ทั้งเทวโลก  มารโลก  พรหมโลก  ในหมู่สัตว์  พร้อมทั้งสมณพราหมณ์  เทวดา
และมนุษย์    ซึ่งบริโภคสูกรมัททวะนั้นแล้ว      จะพึงให้ย่อยไปด้วยดีนอกจาก
ตถาคต.      นายจุนทกัมมารบุตรทูลรับพระดำรัสของพระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าแล้ว
ฝังสูกรมัททวะที่ยังเหลือในหลุมเสีย  เข้าไปเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้า     ครั้นเข้า
ไปเฝ้าถวายบังคมนั่ง  ณ ที่ควรส่วนข้างหนึ่ง.  พระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้า   ทรงยังนาย
จุนทกัมมารบุตรผู้นั่งเรียบร้อยแล้วให้เห็นแจ้ง  ให้สมาทาน  ให้อาจหาญ  ให้
รื่นเริงด้วยธรรมีกถาแล้ว   เสด็จลุกจากอาสนะหลีกไป.
         ลำดับนั้น   เมื่อพระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าเสวยภัตตาหารของนายจุนทกัมมาร-
บุตร  เกิดอาพาธอย่างแรงกล้า     มีเวทนากล้าเกิดแต่การประชวรลงพระโลหิต
ใกล้นิพพาน.  ได้ยินว่า  พระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าทรงมีสติสัมปชัญญะ   ทรงอดกลั้น
เวทนาเหล่านั้นไว้   มิได้ทรงพรั่นพรึง.

และเมื่อจะปรินิพพานแล้ว เพื่อไม่ให้ใครโทษนายจุนนะว่าเป็นต้นเหตุทำให้พระองค์เสียชีวิต จึงได้ตรัสยกย่องเหตุครั้งนั้นไว้

ในระหว่างทางทรงแวะพักใต้ร่มไม้แล้วตรัสบอกพระอานนท์ว่า ถ้าจะมีผู้สงสัยหรือติเตียนนายจุนทว่า พระพุทธเจ้าเสวยบิณฑบาตของนายจุนทเป็นปัจฉิมบิณฑบาต แล้วปรินิพพาน จะทำให้นายจุนทเดือดร้อนไปด้วย ฉะนั้นจงเปลื้องข้อสงสัยของนายจุนทว่า บิณฑบาตสองประการ คือ บิณฑบาตอัน นางสุชาดาถวายพระองค์เมื่อเสวยแล้วตรัสรู้เป็นพระพุทธเจ้า และบิณฑบาตอันนายจุนทถวายพระองค์เสวยแล้วปรินิพพาน มีอานิสงส์มากเสมอกัน เพราะเสมอกันโดยการปรินิพพาน กล่าวคือ พระพุทธเจ้าเสวยบิณฑบาตที่นางสุชาดาถวายแล้วเสด็จปรินิพพานด้วยอุปาทิเสสนิพพานธาตุ และเสวยบิณฑบาตที่นายจุนทถวายแล้วเสด็จปรินิพพานด้วยอนุปาทิเสสนิพพานธาตุ ดังนั้นจึงรวมความว่ามีผลเสมอกันโดยการปรินิพพาน

โรคปักขันธิกาพาธ  ที่พระพุทธองค์เป็นนั้น  เป็นเรื่องการลงพระบังคนเป็นโลหิต  ( ถ่ายเป็นเลือด ) เขาสันนิฐานว่า  เป็นผลมาจากสมัยทรงทุกขกริยา ช่วงยังเป็นพระโพธิสัตว์ ซึ่งบำเพ็ญอดอาหารอย่างอุกฤษ ก่อนเลิกแล้วมาเจริญวิปัสสนาขบคิดจนตรัสรู้  ในพระสูตรบ่งว่ามือลูบท้อง รู้สึกของมือสัมผัสได้ถึงกระดูกสันหลัง ทีเดียว มีบรรยายเรื่องนี้ในพระสูตร แล้วมากำเริบในเวลาทรงพระชราภาพ

ยูเรเนียนไม่ได้กล่าวอะไรหรอกครับ ผมคิดว่าขึ้นกับสมมติฐานของแต่ละคนว่ายึดถือหรือศรัทธาอะไร บางท่าน (โดยเฉพาะไทย) ก็เน้นวันในสัปดาห์ว่าวันนั้นประสูติ ตรัสรู้ ปรินิพพาน แต่วันที่เน้นนั้นเกิดจากสมมติฐานมาคราวหนึ่งแล้วจำต่อมา (เขียนต่อไปในหนังสือบางเล่ม แล้วก็เกิดความน่าเชื่อถือขึ้นเป็นลำดับ) บางท่านก็เอาบุคลิกภาพเป็นตัวตั้ง (โดยเฉพาะเทคนิคของโหราศาสตร์โดยทั่วไป)

สำหรับผมนั้นเอาเหตุการณ์ตามระยะอายุในพุทธพัสสาต่าง ๆ (ใช้เหตุการณ์ปรับแก้เวลาเกิดนั้น ถือได้ว่าเป็นทางของ "ยูเรเนียน" โดยตรงก็ได้ เพราะยูเรเนียนได้รับการยอมรับมากในการพยากรณ์เหตุการณ์ด้วยเทคนิค Solar Arc อย่างแม่นยำโดยผ่านการพิสูจน์แสดงให้เห็นเป็นเวลานาน และทางกระแสหลักได้นำไปพิสูจน์ซ้ำและยอมรับใช้โดยทั่วไป) ก็ใช้สมมติฐานของเหตุการณ์แวดล้อม และบุคคลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์นั้น เป็นประจักษ์พยาน (ตามที่เล่ากันมา) เช่น เวลาประสูติ ตรัสรู้ ปรินิพพาน มีแผ่นดินไหว, ลำดับการออกจากวังไปศึกษากับอาจารย์ผู้เฒ่าอาฬา... เป็นต้น คือสภาพแวดล้อม และตัวบุคคลที่ร่วมในเหตุการณ์นั้นจะต้องได้สมจริง (ตามพระสูตร) และเป็นเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดในช่วงเวลาใกล้เคียงกันจริง และใช้หลาย ๆ เหตุการณ์ตลอดชั่วชีวิต ตำแหน่งดาวอาจคลาดเคลื่อนไปบ้างก็ยอมรับระยะวังกะอย่างหลวม ๆ

สำหรับ Swiss Ephemeris นั้น Chiron ใช้ไม่ได้ ส่วนดาวอื่น ๆ รวมทั้งดาวทิพย์น่าจะใช้ได้ดี (อ่านในคู่มือของ Swiss Ephemeris มีบอกไว้ว่าแต่ละดาวหรือบางดาวใช้ได้ด้วยค่าความแม่นยำเท่าใดในช่วงย้อนอดีตหรืออนาคตในราวช่วงใด ยกมาเล่าพอสังเขป เพราะจะนอกประเด็นไป)

สำหรับข้อที่ว่าดาวทิพย์มีวงโคจรเป็นใกล้เคียงวงกลมนั้น เป็นความผิดแปลกที่เป็นข้อถกเถียงตั้งแต่มีการคิดดาวทิพย์ขึ้นแล้ว (โดย Alfred Witte ก็อ้างอิงหลักดาราศาสตร์ของ Kepler ซึ่งมีอิทธิพลอย่างมากในสมัยนั้นด้วยในการคิดหาดาวเพิ่มเติมกันขึ้น ทั้งดาวที่อยู่ก่อน พุธ ระหว่างอังคารกับพฤหัส และถัดไปจากเนปจูน) แต่ไม่เกี่ยวกับตำแหน่งดาวจะผิดหากย้อนเวลาไปมาก ๆ แต่ประการใด เป็นคนละประเด็นกัน (สำหรับ Swiss Ephemeris มีการปรับค่าพารามิเตอร์บางตัว วงโคจรของดาวทิพย์จึงอาจจะมีความแตกต่างจากของ Hamburg School ไปบ้าง (ทำให้น่าจะแตกต่างจากโปรแกรม AstrologicPC บ้าง เรื่องนี้เป็นสาเหตุหนึ่งที่ทำให้อาจต้องเผื่อใจไว้ในเรื่องระยะวังกะบ้าง) โดยมีการอธิบายอ้างอิงไว้ในคู่มือเช่นกันว่า ปรับปรุงจากอะไร เพราะจะทำให้เหมาะสมกว่าอย่างไร)

ตอบ คห. 23 ผมก็ขอเน้นว่าเป็นเรื่องสมมติฐาน อย่าได้เชื่อถือกัน ในพระสูตรก็สันนิษฐานเช่นกัน หนังสือในที่อื่น ๆ ก็สันนิษฐานเช่นกัน (เช่น "เหตุเกิด พ.ศ. ๑" ที่อื้อฉาว และท่าน ป.อ.ปยุตฺโต ได้เขียนหนังสือแก้ความเข้าใจชึ้น เป็นต้น)

อย่างไรก็ตาม มีหลายเรื่องครับที่ก็พยายามให้คำอธิบายเพิ่มเติมเรื่อยมาเมื่อมีผู้สงสัย คำอธิบายนั้นก็มาจากอรรถกถาจารย์ หรืออาจารย์ในระดับที่เป็นที่ยอมรับกันในระดับต่าง ๆ กัน และมีอ้างอิงบ้างไม่อ้างอิงบ้างว่าทำไมถึงคิดหรืออธิบายเช่นนั้น มีโดยบางส่วนที่คิดคำนึงเอาตามเหตุตามผล (หรือหาเหตุหาผลมารองรับ) มิได้ "รู้หรือเห็น" จริง

กรณีโรคตามที่ อ.ภารต ยกข้อความมาเสริมนี้ก็เห็นว่าจะอ้างเหตุไกลเหลือเกิน จากครั้งทุกรกิริยาโน่นเชียว อาจเห็นว่าไม่อยากให้โทษว่าเป็นสาเหตุอื่น หรือไม่ให้เห็นว่าเหตุผลทางกายภาพไม่ใช่เรื่องหลักก็ได้ (คือ สุกรมัททวะ นั้น) เพราะเรารู้กันว่า/เราอยากเน้นโดยให้ความสำคัญกับที่พระองค์ทรง "ปรินิพพาน" คือดับโดยสิ้นเชิง (โดยสภาวะทางจิต/วิญญาณ) มากกว่าโรคทางกาย

แต่เรื่องนี้ต้องสำคัญมากในภาวะทางกายภาพด้วย เพราะมีเหตุการณ์การฉันมื้ออาหารแปลกนี้เข้ามาแล้วทรงอาพาธหนักขึ้น (ทั้ง ๆ ที่พระองค์ก็ตั้งใจจะเสด็จไปหาสถานที่ดับขันธ์อยู่แล้ว) พระองค์ได้เล็งเห็นว่านายจุนทะจะถูกโทษอีกด้วย ดังนั้นจึงไม่ใช่เรื่องเล็ก ๆ พระองค์จึงได้มีอุบายยกย่องให้เป็นเรื่องดีเสมอบิณฑบาตของนางสุชาดา (ที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนหรือเนื่องให้พระองค์ตรัสรู้)

ก็ไม่ได้จะถกเถียงอะไรเลยนะครับ อธิบายขยายความเฉย ๆ ล้วนแต่เป็นความคิดเหตุผลแทรกซึมไปเรื่อย ๆ ก็ต้องเน้นว่าเป็นเรื่อง "สมมติ" คิดนึกไปเองทั้งนั้น (โดยเฉพาะส่วนของผม) อย่าได้เชื่อถือความเห็นของใครให้มากเป็นพิเศษไป (แม้ความเห็นที่ตรงกันมาก ๆ แหล่ง เพราะอาจจำต่อกันไปจนอ้างมากเข้าด้วยเห็นว่าผู้แสดงความเห็นแรกเป็นอาจารย์หรือบุคคลควรเชื่อถือ)

The author of Buddhist Astrology has been a practicing Buddhist for 30 years, and an astrologer for 20 years. Both Buddhism and astrology are based on a spiritual approach to life, i.e., enlarging one’s domain to include the world of spirit, and combining them is a natural.

Buddhism is Eastern, and the question of the zodiac enters in writing such a book for the general Western public. Eastern astrology uses a sidereal zodiac, i.e., the constellations themselves, whereas western astrology uses a tropical zodiac, i.e., the sky divided into 12 sections of 30 degrees each beginning with Spring Equinox.

There are certainly many questions about the use of any zodiac, but that is not Jhampa’s purpose. He neatly sidesteps this problem by not mentioning signs in his book, only planets, houses, and aspects. It is true that just those three elements give an enormous amount of information. (There are a few astrologers who also do this. But very basically, how do you get houses without using some kind of zodiac?)

Jhampa does, however, illustrate Siddhartha’s (later called Buddha) birth chart in the standard western tropical zodiac with Placidus houses. He was born at 12:30 p.m. on May 23, 575 B.C. (which calendar?) in Parna, India.

Siddhartha had 6 planets in Taurus, plus Chiron, all in the ninth house. Thus values, and teaching about values and priorities, was his path. The many five’s in his birth date (including 2 plus 3) show us the theme of Card Five of the Tarot, the Hierophant, or the Spiritual Teacher. Five is also a number of experiencing many facets of life, developing wisdom, and passing on that wisdom. The original astrologer who cast his birth chart predicted an attainment of great power.

Siddhartha had a Scorpio Moon. This meant experiencing life-and-death crises. Taurus represents abundance, and he was born a prince. However, his Virgo Mars rising motivated him to go out among his people, disguised as one of them. He saw firsthand the poverty and degradation in which most of them lived. This contrast motivated a complete change in Siddhartha’s approach to life. His royal life died for him, and he was reborn as an ascetic wanderer who spent hours in meditation, seeking wisdom. He attained enlightenment on the Full Moon night of May 15, 539 B.C. This is the substance of the joyous celebration of May’s Wesak Full Moon.

Many people know of Siddhartha’s life, for Herman Hesse wrote a book, Siddhartha, about it. This book was around everywhere in the 1960s and early 1970s.

The authors here essentially uses the planets, houses, and aspects as a skeleton on which to hang Buddhist practices, disciplines, lessons, and meditations. The idea of karma is also included. Buddhist Astrology offers a spiritual garment to astrology, and this book can be inspiring reading. For the astrologically-oriented, it makes an excellent meditation tool. Every planet in every house provides its own unique ground for special meditation.

For instance,

"The seventh house relates to people close to oneself....A spiritual person naturally focuses on others and strives to be supportive when planets are placed in the seventh house. It is important to develop skillful means in these relationships or one could become meddlesome. This starts with the need to define boundaries. Boundaries define where one’s personal responsibilities lie, and where another’s start. Wise people are responsible for their personal karmic accumulation and how they present themselves to others. The emphasis is on motivation and presentation. Spiritual people are not responsible for how someone reacts. If an action was undertaken with kindhearted consideration, karmic responsibilities reach fulfillment. One strives to love, support, and benefit others as much as possible. This is the main responsibility in Buddhist terms."

There are a few more paragraphs of wise teaching about the seventh house. Buddhism is so commonsensical! And then we read that among the six Buddhist perfections, the Perfection of Morality and the Perfection of Patience apply to this house. My Sun is in the seventh house, and I can certainly identify with this work.

Jhampa goes on to discuss all of the houses, all of the planets, all of the planets in each house, and all of the major aspects.

As you can see, the language is simple. And yet the precepts are enriching, and add a luminosity to the astrological concepts.

I highly recommend this book. Even if you are not interested in the astrology, the spiritual guidance and food for meditation can inspire us. It’s a book to put by your bedside, and read a short passage in the morning or evening.

Buddha’s life path was ruled by Cancer with the Moon and Neptune as rulers. Cancer rules the first house, the Ascendant, indicating this life was for his personal development, the emergence of the soul, the expression of the soul purpose and activities of the soul.


The Moon is in the second house of Values, spiritual values, spiritual resources, and finally giving expression to his spiritual values; and with Neptune in the twelfth house of sacrifice and selfless service to humanity. These were the tools for bringing it about.


Prince Siddhartha"s life path was a desire to establish some Universal truth, a vision which initially was only for himself to believe in.


By purging the following of old traditions, he was to set out on a search for a new expression of truth. All that he had experienced before this moment in life had been incinerated, at least in his mind, if not in actual material terms.


He walked away from all his cultural customs. In a fit of passion and heat of the moment, he was to set out on this quest, in a highly emotional aroused state of temperament, in a brutal search for fundamental principles, which eventually he finds within himself.


All external ideas were considered false at that moment in time. He desired to evolve a new view of the world, and out of his own intensity of feeling and despite every attempt at self- restraint, he set off.


This emotional passion had created a sterile mental world in which he felt he could no longer live, but accepted it as part of his own creation, and with this vision of a new reality in his mind, he severed his emotional bonds at the time, withdrawing from family, employment, and any conventional institution.


He departed on his own. He has to be true to himself at this stage of development. This life path in fact tells the reasoning behind the well known story of Prince Siddhartha’s departure from the palace into the outside world.


As the 8 destiny number shows, he was subject to outside humiliation, to leaving his wife, to non-attachment and eventual deep states of meditation and realization.



Regarding Prince Siddhartha’s identity--Sun at 11 degrees 18 Aries, ruler of 2nd and 3rd houses, therefore covering the areas of ideas and basic concepts of personal value systems.


Prince Siddhartha’s identity was given expression through his ideal concept of spiritual values in communicating. Prince Siddhartha was born on the day of conscience, where he was bound to manifest strong feelings for his fellow human beings. This day is associated with humanitarian and altruistic tendencies.


The welfare of others is of the highest importance to them, even greater than their own. He would have been somewhat shy and in his own private world, but subject to public groups in an intimate way.


He would have been cool under pressure and in crises, and calm and supportive during difficult periods. He was born to espouse the cause of the disadvantaged. He would not have considered himself a social reformer, just one that believes in everyone being given an equal chance.


He could be very critical and outspoken with those who exert power over others. It would have been hard for others to touch him emotionally.


He would have appeared to be suffering in private over a hurt that nobody would understand. [his life path desire for truth] He would not have cared if others understood him or not.


It would have been exceedingly difficult for him to accept anything from anyone, particularly psychological help.
He wanted to promote his values to the highest possible level. His strengths were in his high ethics, his great ability to give and in feeling socially responsible to what he found. He was also self-sacrificing, extreme in his thoughts, and emotionally closed to others.



Regarding the Moon and Prince Siddhartha’s emotions and instincts--the Moon at 22 degrees 30 Leo in his second house. The Moon ruled his Ascendant, therefore it shows his self absorption, and personal projection on others.
He would emotionally stand aloof from life, appearing detached and cool, disinterested in mundane affairs and preoccupied with his own self-involved thoughts, taken with the interest he had in life.


Adept at making money and material possessions, he felt the need to lead or direct those around him. He was an intense personality focused on his goals. He liked to be left alone in search of his own goals and projects most of the time.
He demanded personal autonomy, and had a live and let live attitude.


He had a knack for discovering how human emotions worked. He was able to focus his mental powers in the area that involved him so. His concern was with spiritual values.


He would rarely back down from a confrontation. His emotional strength was his intensity, his poised manner and technical ideas.


Negatively, he appeared self-involved, emotionally detached and emotionally blocked towards others.

Regarding Prince Siddhartha’s mentality--Mercury 29 degrees 22 Aries in the 10th house. Showing him to be an independent thinker with flashes of intuition, and his career implies he uses his thoughts and meditation.


Mercury rules the 12th and the 4th houses, showing that his mind was withdrawn to his inner worlds in meditation, seeking right at the foundation what reflects the stability of human relations regarding communications.


Prince Siddhartha’s mentality and attitude to communication was that of self-sufficiency. He was happiest, undisturbed and tucked away in a safe place where he could give his all to his private endeavours in meditation.


He could manifest a strong presence in human affairs without being physically present; he had great projective powers of thoughts, and never felt lonely.


He felt he knew best in the areas that concerned him, building on established knowledge formed previously. He just had a great desire to be alone and a need for privacy.


In a nutshell, he was mentally self-sufficient, dedicated to his mental thoughts or meditation and completely centered; to others he appeared withdrawn, over-serious and possibly repressed.



Regarding Prince Siddhartha’s values--Venus 25 degrees 23 Taurus in the 11th house, ruling the intercepted 4th and 11th houses. He took on the peace keeper role in society, with his family and friends at home

Verse for Vesak that contains a hidden story

The Buddha’s birth is revealed in a scholarly unlocking of a cryptic poem

Riddle poems are an important part of the Sri Lankan literary tradition. These ingenious brain-teasers in poetic form constitute a centuries-old art form, going back as far as the 13th century.

The participants would compose riddles on the spot, and these compositions would be analysed, word by word, and then explained. What is interesting is that a fair cross-section of the population took part in these intellectually challenging exercises, suggesting an unusually high level of literary sophistication among the common people of past times.

The riddle poem was especially popular in the intellectually alert and active Kotte period. (Unfortunately most of the Kotte-period riddle poems have disappeared as a result of neglect and a gradual lack of usage over the years.)

The following Kotte period Gira Sandesa (parrot verse) ditty vividly evokes those times, when people would gather to entertain each other with poems and riddle poems.

In this article we will look at a riddle poem that makes a cryptic reference to the birth of the Buddha, and the signs of the Zodiac.

Back in 1954, during a discussion about the doctrinal riddle poems of the “Daham – Gata – Malava”, composed by the scholar monk, Ven. Vidagama Maha Maithreya Thera, the most Ven. Palane Siri Vajiranana Maha Nayaka Thera told me that the monk and poet composed dozens of riddle poems anonymously, many of which have been handed down from generation to generation.

The scholar monk pointed out that distortion was unavoidable when poems and riddle poems were passed on through repetition by oral tradition, and that scholars had to tread cautiously when elucidating these riddle poems.

He then quoted the following poem, which refers in cryptic form to the Buddha’s birth:

(1.) Guruhami gosin vatuna kakulu gule
(2.) Handahami badu kiruva velenda sale
(3.) Ratuhami dabara-kara kara mora vale
(4.) Kaluhami nondi-gaha-gena vatini kale
(5.) Manamalaya malu godakataya yata une
(6.) Nanavathi lines elu galakaya asu une
(7.) Sura Bamba pirisa e vata thutini ras une
(8.) Evani dineka apa Piya thuma ipedune.
Each line of the poem is a symbolic representation of the signs of the Zodiac.

I give below a translation of each verse, followed by an explanation.
(1.) Jupiter fell into a Crab hole
(2.) The Moon weighed the goods in the marketplace
(3.) Mars, kicking up a row, fell into the shark pit
(4.) Saturn, limping along, fell into the pot
(5.) Venus (Manamalaya) got under the shoal of fish
(6.) Mercury and the Sun got trapped in the ram-fold
(7.) From the outskirts, the hosts of god and Brahmas gathered in mirth
(8.) On such a day, there took place our Father’s birth.

Here is a reading of the poem, explaining each verse in astrological terms:
(1.) Jupiter is in the asterism of Cancer
(2.) Moon is in the asterism of Libra
(3.) Mars is in the asterism of Capricorn
(4.) Saturn is in the asterism of Aquarius
(5.) Venus is in the asterism of Pisces
(6.) Mercury and the Sun are in the asterism of Aries
(7.) From the outskirts, hosts of gods and Brahmas gathered in mirth.

To understand and appreciate the poem and its references, you should be aware of the Zodiacal signs and their significance as planetary symbols: Aries (ram); Taurus (bull); Gemini (twins); Cancer (crab); Leo (lion); Virgo (virgin); Libra (balancing scales); Scorpio (scorpion); Sagittarius (archer); Capricorn (goat); Aquarius (water-bearer), and Pisces (fish).

The above chart shows Lord Buddha’s horoscope, according to the cryptic verse of the scholar monk, Ven. Veedagama Maha Thera. Lord Buddha’s birth took place in the year of Kali Yuga, era 2,478, on Tuesday, Vesak Full Moon Poya Day. 1. Jupiter (Guru); 2. Libra (Sandu); 3. Mars (Kuja); 4. Saturn (Sani); 5. Venus (Sikuru); 6. Sun (Ravi); Mercury (Buda). The ancient seers did not consider the Ascending Node (Rahu) and the Descending Node (Ketu) as planets; these asterisms are therefore not indicated.

I would like to call the reader’s attention to the poetic and linguistic values contained in the verses. In the first line, “Guruhami” refers to a Hindu mendicant, teacher, or preceptor. Guru, also known as Amara Guru, is the preceptor of the immortals. The planet Jupiter is also known as Brahaspathi, because it was discovered by the Amara Guru. Cancer (crab) is the smallest, least noticeable element in the Zodiac constellation, lying between Gemini and Leo.

In the second line, the Moon is presented as a male body, Handahami. This may be because the Moon is the most important of the celestial bodies. The calendar is largely based on the moon and its phases (the movement of the tides is determined by lunar influence). Libra (balancing scales) is the seventh sign of the Zodiac. It is a small Zodiacal constellation in the southern hemisphere, lying between Virgo and Scorpio.

In the third line, “Rathu hami” refers to the red planet Mars. Here the “Rathu hami” is presented as an aggressive, rowing type. The words “dabara kara-kara” are appropriate here, because Mars is the Roman god of war. It is in the asterism of Capricorn, the Zodiacal constellation lying between Sagittarius and Aquarius. The figure in the sign of Capricorn has the forelegs of a goat and the tail of a fish.

In the fourth line, “Kalu hami” refers to Saturn. The adjective “kalu” or black refers to the black arts or black-magic. According to astrology, Saturn produces a cold, gloomy temperament, and by extension signifies life’s less pleasant realities. The word “nondi”, meaning limping (walking with an uneven step), may suggest the ring system of Buddhism, the ever-changing circle of cause and effect. The asterism of Aquarius refers to the Water-bearer. His place is indicated by an ancient poet: “Down from Vega cast your glance across the Dolphin’s space; then just as far again you will find the Water-bearer’s place.”

In the fifth line, “Manamalaya” implies “Sikuru” or the planet Venus, also the Roman goddess of love. Venus stands for sexual love, amorous desires and related influences. It is an asterism of Pisces and does not contain any bright stars. It lies between Aquarius and Aries.

In the sixth line, “Nanawathi” and “Dines” signify “Buda” and “Iru”, namely Mercury and the Sun. The Sun suggests a wise, learned one, and the Sanskrit “Budh” suggests awareness, thinking power, inspiration, restraint, etc. Mercury is the Roman god of skill, eloquence and theft. He is the son of Zeus and Atlas, and is said to be graceful and swift of foot. The Sun is the source of all energy, a colossal display of solar energy, through which all life on earth is possible. Its light and heat keeps the earth warm, gives life and helps living things to grow.
